Job Summary
The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Site Manager is responsible for collaborating with an operations team in our Amazon distribution network to enforce company OHS policies and ensure compliance. compliance with all applicable local regulations. Drawing on the principles of Lean and Kaizens, this person will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risks in our processes to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for our associates.

The OHS Manager must be an effective communicator and convey clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. This person is responsible for instructing and training operations managers on the company’s occupational health and safety policies and assisting teams in integrating our occupational health and safety standards at their site.
The OHS manager will identify best practices and integrate them into our standards in order to continually improve the company’s occupational safety and health policies.
The OHS Manager will need to have excellent knowledge of safety, environment and ergonomics and demonstrate this expertise when working with operations.
The OHS Manager will be responsible for leading a team of occupational safety and health managers in their region. This individual is responsible for creating and executing leadership development plans for their OHS Managers and OHS Associates on their team. He must communicate the expectations of the OHS team, provide frequent and appropriate feedback to his OHS teams, and ensure that they implement the core competencies of an Amazon OHS professional. This person must also demonstrate the ability to judge and evaluate health safety talent and select the appropriate workforce based on the current and future needs of the company.
Responsibilities of the Site Manager in terms of occupational health and safety (OHS):
– Have a thorough understanding of local/regional regulations and company policy.
– Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with all applicable Amazon OSH policies.
– Measure site performance against requirements published in OHS policies. For all deficiencies, identify a plan for the site to implement and correct all identified deficiencies.
– Ensure record keeping and data integrity in workplace health and safety and provide operations with accurate reporting and metrics to support company workplace health and safety initiatives.
– Deliver quality projects to operations on time.
– Analyze workplace health and safety metrics and review weekly and monthly incident trends to uncover trends that warrant allocating appropriate resources to areas of highest safety risk.
– Analyze the results of the Global Safety Peer Review and develop and implement solutions to eliminate exposure to these risks and prevent injuries in other CFs.
– Audit archiving practices and entries in the Global Occupational Safety and Health Database to ensure compliance with global occupational safety and health standards and local regulations.
– Check workplace organization and associate behaviors to ensure training, auditing and rating methods are accurate and consistent.
– Manage and supervise OHS associates in the FC assigned to you.
– Lead efforts to reduce soft tissue injuries by performing targeted Kaizens in partnership with operation teams based on the risks identified in each task (strength, repetition and restrictive postures).
– Ensure site management and associates are trained and aware of their responsibilities under each policy. Verify the quality, delivery (including trainer qualifications) and effectiveness of all required OSH training.
– Examine the effectiveness of the tools deployed in terms of occupational health and safety and revise them to ensure continuous improvement.
– Work in partnership with company and other regional occupational health and safety personnel to integrate global best practices in occupational health and safety and environment into standards of the national network.

The Site Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Manager be responsible for partnering with an operations team in our Amazon Fulfillment Network to execute company WHS policies and ensure compliance to all applicable local and regional regulations. By leveraging lean principles and kaizens, this individual will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in our processes to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for our Associates.
The Site WHS Manager must demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the Operations Team and influence change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis.
The Site WHS Manager must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. This individual must instruct and train Operations Leaders in company WHS policies and assist the regional teams in incorporating our WHS standards at their site.
The Site WHS Manger will be required to identify best practices and incorporate these best practices into our standards to continuously improve company WHS policies.
The Site WHS Manager will be required to possess excellent WHS program and relevant safety, environmental and ergonomic knowledge and demonstrates this expertise when working with Operations.
The Site WHS Manager will be responsible to lead a team of WHS Professionals in their site. This individual must create and execute leadership development plans for the WHS Associates on their team. They must communicate WHS team expectations and give frequent and appropriate feedback to their WHS teams and ensure they are executing to the core competencies of an Amazon WHS professional.

Site WHS Manager Responsibilities:
• Possess a thorough understanding of local/regional regulations and company policy.
• Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance to all applicable Amazon WHS Policies.
• Measure the regions and sites’ performance against published requirements in WHS policies. For all deficiencies, identify a plan for the site to implement and fix all identified deficiencies.
• Ensure WHS recordkeeping and data integrity and provides Operations with accurate reporting and metrics to support business WHS initiatives.
• Deliver on-time and quality projects to Operations. Deliver quality projects on time to Operations.
• Analyze WHS metrics and review incident weekly and monthly incident trends to discover trends to justify the allocation of appropriate resources to areas where the safety risk is highest.
• Analyze Global Safety Peer Review results and develop and implement solutions to eliminate exposure to these risks and prevent injury at other FCs.
• Audit recordkeeping practices and Global WHS Database entries to ensure compliance to global WHS standards and local regulations.
• Audit the workplace organization and Associate behaviors to ensure that training, auditing and scoring methods are accurate and consistent.
• Manage and mentor the FC WHS Manager and WHS Associates in your assigned FCs.
• Spend time at the fulfillment centers and seek input from WHS teams, Associates and leaders on WHS program improvement opportunities. Ensure open communication on status of progress and resolution against these suggestions.
• Lead soft tissue injury reduction efforts by performing targeted Kaizens in partnership with the Operations teams based on the risks identified in each task (force, repetition, and awkward postures).
• Ensure site leadership and Associates are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each policy. Audit the quality, delivery (including qualifications of the trainer), and effectiveness of all required WHS training.
• Review for effectiveness the deployed WHS tools and revise to ensure continual improvement.
• Partner with corporate and other regional field WHS personnel to leverage global WHS and environmental best practices into NA network standards.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications
– A Bachelor’s degree or 2+ years of experience at Amazon (Blue Badge/FTE)
– 3+ years of increasing responsibility in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production or on duty.
– Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment.
– Experience leading change in a multi-site environment and managing several direct reports.
– BS/BA in safety, environment, ergonomics or a related field required.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
– Ability to develop and implement departmental goals and strategies based on the broader goals of the organization.
– Strong analytical skills and proven problem-solving skills.
– Since this role requires the employee to interact with other Amazon entities on a global scale as well as with employees and stakeholders in other Canadian provinces, knowledge of French and English is required to this post.

Basic qualifications
– A Bachelor’s Degree or 2+ years Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience
– 3+ years’ of increasing responsibility in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations.
– Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment.
– Experience leading change in multiple site environment and managing multiple direct reports.
– BS/BA in safety, environmental, ergonomics or a related field required
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills
– Ability to develop and implement department goals and strategies based on broader organization goals.
– Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability.
– Due to the nature of the role that requires interaction with other Amazon entities globally, with Amazon employees and stakeholders in other provinces in Canada, bilingualism French and English is required for this position
