Head of Social Media Marketing, Amazon Prime Video JP


Prime Video is seeking an exceptional Social Media Marketing leader to exponentially grow the Prime Video brand social presence across key metrics including audience size and engagement into one of the category’s leading social media destinations. The PV JP Head of Social Media will manage a social media team to develop innovative social media campaigns for the Prime Video brand handle across all social platforms and drive best-in-class customer experience and engagement. He/She will be a thought leader in building social fandoms around Prime Video’s titles. The leader will function as an “editor-in-chief” for social communications, working hand in hand with content teams (Amazon Originals team and Content Acquisition team) and content marketing team to set the editorial calendar, prioritize titles to support and synthesize customer communication activities, and will develop short-term/long-term strategy with clear resource allocation plan to maximize effectiveness and efficiency of social media marketing. This is a highly strategic, highly creative and highly visible role that will have an opportunity to create an enduring media platform for many years to come.

Success in this role requires excellent entrepreneurial, marketing and cultural instincts – a person that is fascinated by changes in the entertainment industry in the ways that fans find and watch their favorite shows, and is constantly consuming the news, stays up to date on pop culture trends, and has an “ear to the ground” on all things social. The leader will have a proven ability to build strategy to develop social communities for effective and efficient customer communications that drive Prime Video engagement. He/she must understand local customers’ content needs in a fast changing, vibrant space and translate it into the strategy. The leader will have demonstrated experiences driving editorial campaigns across key social platforms (e.g. IG, TW, TT, YT) and generating earned media while leading the team with operational excellence in productivity and compliance. He/she will have a track record of building fast growing social communities and become one of the leading entertainment cultural voices in Prime Video.

Key job responsibilities
• Grow Prime Video social community into one of the largest social platforms in the JP entertainment industry, maintaining strong fan engagement.
• Drive brand awareness and create loyalty through innovative ideas and surprising conversations.
• Define and drive PV’s social communication strategy, brand voice and positioning.
• Plan PV editorial calendar across handles, and act as “editor-in-chief” determining which content/stories run and when based on their ability to grow/engage the fan base.
• Ideate and oversee development of innovative, best-in-class social campaigns.
• Drive effective and mutually beneficial talent/rights holder relationships.
• Identify, recruit and collaborate with influencers and third-party content creators (i.e. bloggers) to generate social engagements.
• Champion social media analytics and partner with business intelligence/data science teams to continuously improve effectiveness/efficiency of social activities.
• Communicate regularly with senior executives to update on progress and goals, as well as align on high-level strategic priorities.
• Select and manage innovative social media and creative agencies, leveraging their expertise to scale faster and more effectively.
• Work collaboratively across content teams, PR, and content marketing teams.
• Hire and develop the best social media talents.

• 5+ years of social media marketing experience, with the last 2+ years leading a social publishing team at an entertainment brand or consumer product/service brand.
• Experience in developing and executing social content and engagement strategy, and “owning” social media handles you developed and operated with exponential growth rate.
• A well-established portfolio of large-scale social campaigns demonstrating leadership from strategy ideation to successful execution.
• Track record of success across all key social channels including Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.
• Expertise in creating robust social engagement through content and experiences developed for mobile channels.
• Experience of building compelling social content through social media influencers that amplifies social campaigns and exponentially grows followers and engagement.
• Demonstrated ability to hire, develop and manage internal special teams of both “creators” and “doers” skills including social creators and social campaign managers.
• Experience with Social Automation, Scheduling, Insight and Analytic tools, such as Sprinklr, Quuu.
• Experience of analytical works on social metrics; establish/monitor/evolve KPIs and analyze them for performance improvement.
• Extreme attention to details for hedging the risks associated with social bashing, legal/accounting compliance and/or rights infringement.


• Experience to influence and communicate effectively with senior executives outside Japan.
• Track record of driving adoption of new ideas and concepts, and pioneering new approaches within your team or company.
• Strong logical thinking and data-driven decision making skill.
