RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops Water treatment plant, chemical feed systems, Electro-chlorination systems, waste water and related systems Maintenance and Remaining Life Assessment (RLA) programs.
  • Ensures that reliability engineering/predictive maintenance plans are developed, implemented, and executed.
  • Ensures six monthly compliance reviews are conducted to confirm that the Water treatment plant, chemical feed systems, Electro-chlorination systems, waste water and all other chemistry related systems are being maintained in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Ensures that chemistry related protective devices are properly calibrated and checked on a timely basis.
  • Reviews the daily activities of the power station chemical laboratory and the chemistry related activities such as calibration and external quality control

  • Audits Chemistry of boiler water and steam cycle.
  • Audits fuel compatibility to plant specification.
  • Support the site’s team regarding environmental chemical requirements including maintaining the relevant permits.
  • Supports load rejection and synchronization events when required.
  • Tracks excursions of chemistry of boiler water and steam cycle adjusting the time between maintenance cycles based upon normal accepted standards allowed for abnormal operating conditions.
  • Ensures that proper safety precautions and procedures are followed while performing maintenance activities on chemistry related systems.
  • Prepares reports and presentations involving chemistry systems for distribution to internal and external customers, including insurance brokers and lender’s engineers.
  • Supports the BU as requested for budgeting, planning, and scheduling related maintenance activities on chemistry related systems and participates in all power generation related asset incident investigations, root cause failure analysis (RCA) and corrective action options analysis.
  • As the subject matter experts for chemistry systems, ensures that the third party technical specs for purchase orders and third party technical reports are thorough; develops relevant O&M technical guidelines.
  • Supports site Maintenance and Engineering teams in Outage scope development, planning and tools and is present as required during Outages to provide support and advice on technical issues.
  • Benchmarks with best practices internal and external to AP and provides guidance on adopting these practices as well develop the Chemistry guidelines and procedures in the related areas.
  • Reviews and tracks the water consumption at the power plants and investigates how to improve on the water efficiency of the plant.
  • Reviews weekly reports looking for anomalies and corroborating results and formally reports on these
  • Consolidates monthly reports into a summary with any events to note highlighted
  • Conducts system reviews for each site on a quarterly basis highlighting non-compliances to Guidelines and recommendations to improve performance and align to best practices in this System.
  • Identifies and conducts technical reviews of suitable suppliers for qualification and recommendation to Supply Chain Management
  • Provides periodic training to O&M organizations to help BUs assure optimum boiler system performance.
  • Supports local talent development by mentoring and coaching specialists/engineers in programmes such as Project Token.
  • Evaluates the performance of responsible BU maintenance and operating teams; recommends appropriate personnel.
  • Assures internal/external stakeholder development through periodic plant visits to power generation facilities, meetings, site visits to OEM and technical service providers, and conference participation, as required
  • Safety, Health, Environment, and Housekeeping
  • Complies with occupational safety and health as well as environmental rules and regulations to prevent accidents, illness, and adverse effects on the environment.
  • Complies with housekeeping policies within his/her area of responsibility during assigned shift to maintain standards of cleanliness and orderliness of plant equipment and premises
  • Conforms to the company’s Quality, Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety, Asset Management, Energy Management, Business Continuity Management System and Information Security Management Systems policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines based on ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001, ISO 55001, ISO 50001, and ISO 22301 Standards.
  • Reports Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety events/incidents or potential events, or other security risks to the organization/ committees-in-charge.
  • Protects information assets from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, destruction, or interference in accordance with ISMS policies
  • Maintains availability, confidentiality, and integrity of documents

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Engineering Board Passer/Professional Engineer, an advantage
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, an advantage
  • Knowledge of Chemical and Environmental Matters associated with power plants.
  • Knowledge of Water treatment plant, chemical feed systems, Electro-chlorination systems, waste water and all other chemistry related systems
  • Knowledge of chemical laboratory processes and testing methods
  • Knowledge of the environmental and health impact of chemicals being used in the plant.
  • Knowledge in Chemical Systems issues fault finding/problem solving
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and manuals
  • At least 15 years’ experience in chemical systems maintenance in power generation industry or petrochemical/industrial gas production/refining (Experience requirement may be reduced for individuals with an advanced technical or business degree, or registration as a professional engineer)
  • At least 2 years’ experience working for chemical systems original equipment manufacturer (OEM) or industrial service provider (ISP)
  • Experience in preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance practices
  • Experience in performance enhancement and optimization of operating assets or processes
  • Experience in analysis of plant/facility financial performance requirements against operations, maintenance, and repair costs
  • Experience in reliability engineering, statistical analyses of failure modes, and root cause failure analyses (preferred but not required)
  • Exposure to plant information systems and performance monitoring software applications
  • Leadership experience leading technical team members in the execution of Design and/or Service Work Completion to successfully complete time-bound project and financial budgets within schedule
  • At least 2 years of experience in project management
  • Willing to work in BGC
