Director – Reinsurance

Tysers Insurance Brokers have a requirement for a Director, Reinsurance within our Singapore office.

  • To lead and manage the development of sustainable client and underwriter relationships on international scale.
  • To effectively coordinate ongoing business as well as grow existing business as a result thereof.

– To actively carry out – as well as guide team members on – all broking and client servicing activities.

Main Duties

  • Drive the negotiation and placement of insurance/reinsurance contracts in South East Asia with focus on Indian sub-continent territories, producing market quotations and lead terms;
  • Apply market expertise to design, deliver, innovate and place new/expanded business opportunities, renewals and mid-term adjustments and claims to improve market competitiveness, drive growth and optimal outcomes clients
  • Partner with Tyser’s resources to deliver the widest practical range of insurance solutions and services to client.
  • Ensure implementation of broking excellence initiatives including: Client Promise; Sales / Cross Selling; Wording/Slip standardization; Standard Contracts; Data Quality; Broking operations process flow; Carrier / market engagements.
  • Interface with the market and to secure optimum outcome for client risk coverage
  • Help with Tyser In point engagements
  • Contribute to key thought leadership content for our clients and markets, and demonstrate understanding and insight into the industry, clients, risks and solutions.
  • Contribute to up to date marketing materials on carrier appetite and solutions available to Specialty clients;
  • Contribute to regular “State of the Market” reports updating on market trends and losses
  • Ensure knowledge and best practice approaches are captured, documented and shared to ensure resiliency in the broking function for the Specialty
  • Responsibility to ensure that all broking / placement activity is in compliance with MAS regulations and Tyser Company Policy and Guidelines.

Knowledge/Skills required:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with external markets and internally with our network offices in the region
  • Meticulous, hardworking and a go-getter with good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain business relationships
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the Insurance industry within the APAC region

  • Excellent oral/written communication skills

A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • At least 15 years experience in insurance industry with minimum 10 years reinsurance broking experience
  • Degree with ACII qualification or equivalent
  • Proficiency in local language to service India and the sub-continent is preferred and will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 10 years working experience in Indian sub-continent region with direct contacts with local cedants in each territory.
  • Minimum 10 year’s experience in handling speciality lines of business like FINPRO, Casualty, Trade credit/Bond, Cyber.
  • Comfortable working in a highly collaborative, matrix and multi-cultural environment
  • Ability to learn and deliver under pressure and at ease with going outside of comfort zone
