The Khalifa Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (KCGEB) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Assistant to join our dynamic research team in the field of Population Genomics and Bioinformatics. The selected candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research projects focused on understanding the genetic diversity, evolution, and population dynamics of various organisms using advanced genomic and computational techniques.

The Research Assistant will be based at the Khalifa Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (KCGEB) in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates (UAE), which offers state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and computational resources. Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Genetics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field. PhD candidates are also encouraged to apply.
  • Hands-on experience with next-generation sequencing data analysis and bioinformatics tools, such as BWA, GATK, SAMtools, PLINK, etc.
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics, such as Python, R, or Perl.
  • Strong understanding of population genetics concepts and statistical methods used in genomics research.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments and command-line tools for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and present research findings.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
